I am a self-taught visual artist and educator creating from the Sierra Nevada mountains of northern California. My abstract nature paintings in ink, watercolor, and acrylic are shown and sold in California, Nevada, Washington, and South Carolina.
My professional interest in art began in my early 30s and progressed from ink-and-watercolor botanical sketching through a variety of mediums. While I enjoyed capturing realistic details, I really preferred looking for familiarity in the abstract - it tickles the imagination and evokes a sense of wonder when the eye isn’t trapped by defined lines.
I describe my process as making inky messes on canvas and detailing out the natural treasures found in the chaos.
The best advice I've ever been given? Break the rules, make a mess, and get dirty!
